Not quite understanding, Shujaa just sat there starting to feel a tad bored. "Dad? Can we play or something? Nuka's probably sleeping somewhere and I dont feel like playing with him.." he asked.

Scar closed his eyes tight and wished he hadn't heard what he just did. Ohhhh... kids these days just had an unending supply of energy, did they not?
"Well," Scar began, only to gain time. He raised his head and looked around. There was no Zira to save him right now, and Nuka, the cub had just mentioned, was asleep. However, his green eyes found something that might help: a golden cub was nearby, behind some rocks, apparently very scared about something.
"Why don't you go play with her?" Scar suggested, signaling with his nose towards Kayani.
"She looks like she could use the company of a strong, brave lion such as yourself right now." Of course, Scar was hardly concerned about the girl's well-being. He was only looking for a fast way to get his son to leave him be. |

"Well...I guess I can." he replied turning towards Kayani. "Promise we can play later Dad?"
Shujaa asked his small body facing towards the rock his father had just mentioned. He was going to go play with Kayani but only after he recieved an answer.

Scar's head placed itself on the comfortable smoothness of the rock he had for pillow and a smile of satisfaction spread across his tan muzzle as he heard his son skip away. Finally!
However, hadn't his heavy eyelids closed when he heard his son's voice again. The following pause indicated that his question required an answer.
"Mhm." Scar conceded mindlessly. Whatever. |

Skipping off towards Kayani, Shujaa asked her. "Hey...are there any other trees around the gorge?"

Kayani had hidden herself behind a rock near the opening of Scar's cave, too scared to show herself completly but too curious and shocked to leave. She couldn't beleive it: she was wrong. Shujaa really was Scar's cub! He had walked right in there, and not only had called him daddy, but had asked him to play! She was stunned!
She hadn't realized she'd edged from behind the rock to see the scene better until Scar pointed her out to Shujaa, commenting that she looked like she needed a male to protect her. Kayani sniffed indignantly, but did not leave. She stayed and stared at Scar, before coming to her senses and quickly edged back into hiding. But Shujaa was already running over, begging her to play. She wasn't even thinking about playing. She stared at him, and, shocked said, "You're King Scar's son!"

"Yeah..I told you I was." he replied sitting down and staring at her. "So...are there any more trees around the gorge?" he asked again in case she wasnt paying attention.

Kayani forced herself to pay attention to Shujaa. She was still in shock about the fact that he was Scar's son. She really didn't know much about the royal family, but she was shocked that she had met their child!
"Uh..." she said. "Yeah, but they're not really interesting. I mean, they're just trees. You can find tree anywhere. Why don't we find something more interesting to do?"

"Ok. Whatcha wanna do?" Shujaa laid down on his back and rolled around. "Bah...must've picked up something from Nuka..." he muttered as he rolled in the grass. "He's always scratching himself or something..."

"Who is Nuka?" Kayani asked, watching Shujaa roll on the ground. Was he another royal cub? How many were there to the royal family?Shujaa seemed okay, but Scar was just plain scary and her meeting with Zira had been terrifying. Were they all like that?

"Nuka's just my stupid brother." he replied as he got up from the grass. "So...you wanna wrestle or something?" Shujaa was quite bored with all this standing around, he wanted some action going on. Flicking his tail back and forth slowly, he stood there wondering what her reply would be before another question popped into his head. "Hey...how'd you get to live in the gorge anyway?"

"I don't live there," she said. "I live here. With the lionesses. Sarabi and Sarafina take care of me. I go there cause it's quiet."
She sighed and looked around at the dry, grey land. "There's too much...worry here. I like to get away and be by myself."
She shrugged simply, then smiled at him. "I like to wrestle," she said, crouching low, her tail flicking.

"Bet I can beat you..." a small smirk crossed the cub's maw as he spoke. He was certainly not going to be beaten, especially by a girl. Crouching low he flicked his tail from side to side then lunged towards her, his body colliding with hers.

Kayani fell back as Shujaa leaped at her, but she quickly rolled away from underneath him and sprand back to her feet, leaping to attack him. She laughed as she grabbed his scruff, trying to flip him onto his back.

He was in her hold now...trying to get her off, Shujaa began to wriggle and writhe trying to get free. "Hey! Come on! he laughed while pawing at her.
