Scar and Zira were making the last preparations before they would depart to the Prideland raid. Then Nuka came in the cave saying how he had lost Kovu again. Interrupted on his strategic discussion with Zira, Scar turned his head angrily.
"Well..." He began with fake calmness, "THEN GO GET HIM!" Scar snapped at the teenager.

"You know I can't defend myself that well, could even be hyenas out there, and I know you got a hatred for them due to what happened back in the Pride Lands. Don't you want to go get some revenge?" Nuka says, tilting his head.

Kovu stood before the female hyena. "I..um...I was looking for something." he replied staring up at her.

Scar sneered at the mention of hyenas. He walked towards the cave entrance, sending Zira a look that granted her full command over the operation. He would catch up with them later.
"Where did you lose him?"

"Well, I think you just found it!" The hyena growled. Her black lips twitched by one moment, wanting to laugh at what she had just said, but resisting the impulse she kept on her granite-block face.
"You look terribly familiar, cub. What is your name and who are your parents?"
He looked like Shujaa. But Shujaa was dead. |

"My name's Kovu." he replied staring at the female hyena. "And as for my parents, they don't really matter." The cub sat down and looked around he tried to figure out some plan of escape just in case the hyena was hungry and wanted a light snack. Kovu figured that everybody knew his parents, so why would he have to explain himself again?

"Last I saw him he was going that way." Nuka says as he points toward the direction to the hyena cave. "He couldn't have gone that far." The teen says as his eyes look to his father's. "I knew that kid was going to be a problem."

Scar snarled and ran in the direction Nuka had pointed to. Kovu was the same color as the ground and difficult to see, so the lion relied mostly on his nose. The scent trail disappeared in the worst imaginable place -- a hyena cave.
"No!" Scar gasped, his green eyes widening with fear and worry of what might have happened.
But the faint sound of voices coming from the hole in the ground changed his expression into pure wrath. (Un)fortunately, Scar did not fit in the burrow, so all he could do was roar furiously and claw at the entrance with intentions of enlarging it to the point that he could either come in or get the hyena.

"You know, you would make a fine gift for my Matriarch..." The hyena commented darkly.
"But you're not trickin' anybody! Your parents must be Scar and Zira." Bakari sniffed the earthy air. "I can smell it."
She lowered her head and brought it dangerously close to the small cub.
"You remind me of someone. Nuka's brother, Shujaa. I went to Mount Kilimanjaro for him and--"
But a great noise interrupted Bakari. The hyena gasped in surprise and whirled about. But soon her expression hardened again, and she snapped:
"What's all that ruckus! Don't you know what's knocking for?!" |

"Shujaa?" the cub tilted his head at the mention of the name, though his thought process was immediately interrupted when he heard a distant roaring."Father?" the sight of the old male seemed a bit odd. "What are you doing here?"

"Kovu! You're alive!" Scar exclaimed joyfully after hearing the voice of his son echoing off the tunnel.
But soon his expression reverted to that wrathful snarl, and he was back at digging, even more fiercely than before.
"Listen to me, hyena! If you touch a single hair of my son I'll--"
"Yeah, yeah. I know how it goes." Bakari rolled her eyes.
"But I can't believe you don't take good care of your cubs even now!" She barked as she gave Kovu a good push towards the exit.
"Shut up!" Scar hissed, and the hyena pressed herself against the wall of dirt behind her. She was trapped, and this wasn't good. But hopefully, old Scar would take his son and go away soon? |

The young cub squirmed out past Scar and poked his head back outside only to see Nuka, his emerald eyes narrowing at the teen as he struggled out.

"Kovu, what were you thinking!? You almost gave me a heart attack!" Scar scolded the cub, sending him a poisonous glare over his shoulder.
Then growling at the hyena one last time, he turned to leave.
"Let's go home." He commanded. |

"But..but....." he protested. It wasn't exactly all his fault. Nuka was the one who had TOLD him to go there in the first place...

From a secluded place Nuka watches his father and "brother" return, a wily smirk on his face, seeing as how his plan went exactly as planned. "Nuka 1, termite 0." He says in a quiet, triumphant voice. Finally things were going his way for once, he was finally tasting victory, and he loved it. Now he just needed to find more ways to mess with the little termite.

Fortunately, the cub spotted Nuka's tail and ran towards him. "Nuka's the one that pointed in this direction and said to come here..right Nuka?" Kovu was sure that the teen would tell the truth.

Nuka shakes his head. "No I didn't. Your curiousity is what drove you." The teen says as he looks at the cub. "Now I got things to do, so see ya." He says as he stands and turns to leave, beginning to walk off.
