At his son's words, the King only laughed. However, the girl's reaction took him quite by surprise. He watched her in complete silence, sending Shuuja a surprised look before watching her turn to leave.
Then Scar arched an eyebrow and looked down on his son like telling him: "Look at what you did. Go fix it."

After hours and hours of work Rafiki leaned out over his tree and yelled down, "Hey! You! You here for de Prince?"
Shujaa ran down as fast as he could stopping on occasion due to his wheezing. "Kayani! Wait up!" he called out.

Kayani shut her eyes hard, ignoring Shujaa, and marched on. If he thought of her that way, then that was his problem. She sniffed, and didn't even hear him wheezing. She was too angry, too hurt.
Tojo looked up at Rafiki and nodded. "Yeah," he answered. "What do I need to know?"

Leaping down from the tree Rafiki landed on the ground facing Tojo's head towards Mt. Kilimanjaro. "See dat up dere? Dat's where you need to go.."
Shujaa stood there in confusion as Kayani walked off, flattening his ears slightly. "Whats the matter with her?" he mused.

Bakari almost fell on her back as she twisted her neck to see in the direction the monkey was pointing at.
"Whaaaaat?!" She gasped.

Normally, he would have left them alone, but hearing his son's coughing, Scar decided to follow them. He watched her go further away, while his son was unable to follow her due to his condition. The King's tail lashed with annoyance.
"Hey cub!" Scar called her, "The Prince wants to say something."

Kayani marched all thje way down the rock until she found the corner she'd curled up in the night before. She squeezed herself back in there and curled into a ball, tears on her cheeks. "I thought you liked me!" she whimpered to herself. "I...I thought we were friends!"
Tojo blinked and followed the monkey's finger. He looked over the mountain and his heart fell. His ears fell back against his head and he gaped in horror. "Up there?" he said. "But...I'll never make it!"

"And what in the world are we looking for anyway?" Bakari asked, her eyes still fixed on the imposing mountain whose summit seemed to touch the skies.

Rafiki's raises his stick and thwacks Tojo across the head. "You will! You've gotta have hope. Without hope life is meaningless. Without hope life is meaning less and less. You'll know what da plant looks like when you get dere, now...get going!" he cackled while climbing back up into the tree.
Shujaa padded past the area where Kayani was hiding. "I..I didnt mean it! Please dont be mad..." he said looking around before padding back down Pride Rock to look for her.

"Ow!" Tojo gasped, rubbing his head were Rafiki had hit him. "Crazy monkey..." he watched as the monkey dissapeared back up into the tree, then looked back over his shoulder at Mt. Killamanjaro. That mountainw as the highest peak in Africa. "Crazy me," he added to his earlier comment. What was he doing? Going on a mission to save his worst enemy's son? Why? "Maybe because Shujaa hasn't done anything to me," he mutterd to himself. "After all, it's not his fault he;s Scar's son." He sighed and glared at Bakari. "Just come on," he said and started off. They had an awfully long way to go.
Kayani sniffed, and glared at Shujaa. "If that's the way you think of me," she said. "Then fine! I don't want to be your friend either!"

Shujaa ran out into the Savannah looking all over for Kayani, not caring that he was coughing or wheezing. He just had to find her! Suddenly he stopped and laid down, feeling very sleepy. Maybe it was the heat that was making him tired, staggering over to a tree he laid back down and closed his eyes.

As Tojo walked, something caught his eye. Fortunatly, he had been walking near the area that Shujaa had been passing through. Otherwise, the cub may have been totally overlooked. He paused, seeing him fall over. "Shujaa?" he asked, running over to where the cub lay. He leaned down, but the cub was still breathing. Thank goodness. "Shujaa?" he asked, nudging him. What was he doing all the way over here?

Tojo's heart lightened when the young prince responded. "Can you stand?" he asked. 'What happened?" He couldn't leave him like this. He glanced over his shoulder at Bakari. "I have to take care of the prince," he said. "Wait for me." Then he saw Scar and sighed. For once, he was glad to see the king. "I found him here, Sire," he said. "He...fell asleep."

"And what is it wrong with that?" Bakari questioned Tojo, having heard some of his muttered words with her much oversized, bat-like ears. There was nothing wrong with being Scar's son in her world; to the contrary, it was a great honor...
"Kilimanjaro is where the jungle is at, no? I know a shortcut! Follow me!" The hyena cackled, suddenly breaking into a run even under the heat of the African sun, and it was about to get worse, because she apparently wished to cross the desert. Lions might be faster than hyenas, but the latters had a virtually endless supply of energy to maintain their ungraceful leaps for a very long time.
Tojo would have a hard time keeping up with Leopard Spots, Shenzi's number one runner.

"Uff, girls!" Scar scowled, "Who can understand them?" He complained.
Scar turned around and began the climb to the top of Priderock. But after a moment, he noticed how Shuuja wasn't following. He turned around, and only managed to catch the last glimpse of someone's tail as they both had run out of the cavern.
Since they had escaped through a gap much too small for Scar to fit through, the King had to take a different route.
After a long while, Scar's dark form emerged from the grasses. It didn't take him too long to find his son, more by smell than by sight, because his small form was lying on the ground, nearly invisible.
"Shuuja...? Shuuja!" The King called with concern. Was he... could he be... No...
But before he could come any nearer, Tojo appeared. He nudged his son and he responded. Then Scar could breathe again!
The King interposed himself between his son and the young lion.
"The medicine!" He said, "What did Rafiki say?"
- - -
Bakari turned her head, but without stopping to run.
"What are you...?" She asked Tojo, but the teenager had long since gone from her sight range. Bakari skidded to a stop and tripped over something in the grass.
Kayani.
