Kovu immediately stopped as sat back down once Dotty laid down in front of him. "But...what's so bad about it anyways? It doesn't look THAT scary." he replied as he rolled his emerald eyes while trying to climb over her to make it to the other side.
(sorry its so short, have a small cyst on the back of my hand that I have to get removed, so it hurts a little bit to type x.x)

Aberash had crawled her way out of the muddy puddle she had splashed into upon missing her leap. She shook her coat and twisted her muzzle up with dignity.
She sat down with her back turned on Kovu, but Dotty's tale eventually forced her to come. She quickly made her way through the natural bridge and stood besides the Prince.
"Oh yes..." the little lioness continued, trying to mimic Dotty's vicious smirk. "They may not look like it, but they are twice as dangerous as they say!"
"Just like hyenas... they do not look like a big threat with the smiles and when they're laughing! But they have mouths full of teeth!" She ended her sentence with a snapping of jaws to empathize the terror hyenas were.
"But Simba is SO much worse than a hyena!" Aberash ranted on, "Those who have seen him and lived to tell say that he is two times as big as King Scar, and that we would need the whole Pride to face him!"
Aberash sat down and puffed her chest. "Because of this I will be a fine warrior when I grow up, so I can help the Pride out when there is a war. And I don't care if they kill me."

Kovu's emerald green eyes slightly grew wide. "Well I'm not scared..." he boasted as he turned around and hopped down off the log, heading back in the direction of the Outlands. If there was one thing Kovu wanted to find out, it was the truth about the matter, and he figured that maybe his father would know something about it. After the long trek home, Kovu padded around and found his father in his usual spot. Walking in quietly, the cub sat down behind him and lightly cleared his throat. "Dad?" he asked quietly just in case he was asleep or something.

At the sound of his "son"s voice, Sar's head slowly rose.
"Yes?" He replied calmly.
Fortunately for Kovu, the Outlander King did not seem like he was in such a bad mood anymore. After all, the Pride had big plans for tonight... very big plans indeed.

The cub flicked his tail back and forth. "Um...A..Aberash told me that the Pridelands are bad. Is that true?" he asked sheepishly while running a paw across the dirt in front of him, not really expecting an answer from Scar about the subject matter, besides if he didn't answer there was always his mother to ask about it.

"The lands aren't bad by themselves. The problem is the Pridelanders." Scar replied. Of course the Pridelands weren't bad: they were their Kingdom and their home, after all. The problem, like hse just said, were the Pridelanders... real villains from the Outlanders' point of view.
"Who is Aberash?" Scar asked without much interest.

"Another cub." Kovu replied. With all this talk of Pridelanders, the prince's interest was piqued. "She also said the king was bad too and really mean." he said while sitting down next to Scar.

"And that's so true." Scar agreed. The Outlanders had reasons to dislike the true King of Priderock, and Scar never missed an opportunity to fuel their hatred towards him.

The cub wondered why the king of the pridelands was often called angry and such. "Did somebody do something to make him angry?" Kovu asked quirking a brow. Somebody HAD to have done something to make Simba that way.

Ah, touche.
"He is just... afraid that we'll take his Kingdom from him. Yes, our Kingdom." Scar lied.
Although it was partly true; Simba had not allowed them to return after the hyenas had turned coats because he feared they might try something, you know, murderous.

Boy was this Scar's unlucky day...Kovu was full of so many questions about the subject. "Ours? The pridelands are ours?" the cub's expression became contorted into a confused look as he stared at Scar. "But you just said 'his'..."

Unlucky it was. Yet Scar was clever and hard to back into a dead end.
"They're his at the moment because he is King there," he admitted, his nose wrinkling in disgust.
"But we are working on it." Scar smirked.

Seeing his 'father' smirk Kovu's emerald green eyes blinked in confusion. "Working on it? What's that supposed to mean?" he asked. After this he'd figured he'd go back out and play since he didn't want to get Scar in a bad mood.

The night was slowly consuming the day, as the sun fell beyond the distant horizon. Shady orbs gleamed in the coming darkness, as an evil presence made it's way to the sides of her mate and son. Zira smirked at her cub's fierce curiosity and thought to herself, with a little more grooming, the prince would one day become a mighty king. Stalking next to the two males, her king and prince, the queen whispered a dark hello.
"The lionesses, I chose personally, are prepared to hunt." Zira spoke as the dusk brought fire to her golden-colored orbs. "They wait near the borders, faithfully obeying their king's command."
Zira sat her hind-quarters on the dust covered mound, treating herself to the company of those she considered the most precious. Her eyes focusing on her son, softened at the sight of his dark pelt and innocent green eyes. He reminded her so much of Shuuja-- that the ache in her heart had almost healed... almost.
"The Pridelands will one day belong to you, my son." Zira purred attentively, and perhaps possessively. "You were born to be a king."
--------------
Dotty remained at the edge of the borders, standing between the Outlands and the Pridelands after she heard of the hunt taking place at twilight.

"M..M..Me?" Kovu stuttered as he turned his head towards his mother's voice. "But..But..." the young cub wasn't exactly prepared mentally for Zira's statement which quite frankly had him in complete and utter shock. "But what if I don't wanna be the king?"
