Name : Tau
Age : Young adult
Gender : Male
Species : Lion
Pridelander or Outlander? : Pridelander
Rank : Prospective Prideland member
History : Tau was born into a small but robust pride a long way from the Pridelands. He was protected well by his mother, Sita, but, with only one aging male to protect the pride, a pair of younger males easily took over. Driving Tau’s father, Usiku, from power, Tau was in very serious danger. Sita attempted to convince the new kings that her son was no threat, but since he was not their blood, he was never trusted. The always assumed Tau would attempt to reclaim his birthright over the pride. As he grew bigger and stronger, they made a decision to drive him away.
Tau had never had a lot of interest in leading a pride anyway and left without much of a fight, feeling that he could find a place to belong and be accepted elsewhere. He has come to the Pridelands to ask to join.
Personality: Tau is very perceptive to the thoughts and emotions of others. He can keenly pick up subtle voice changes and body language. His acute observational skills have always served him well and he could tell that the new kings wished him harm and knew when to stay away from them in their bad moods. It wasn’t as if they were unfair rulers, but they simply hated Tau due to his bloodlines.
As the rest of the pride felt strongly toward Tau, he never lacked in love or support and has a sense of fellowship and loyalty. These are his most prized morals. He feels that anyone who would betray their pride, friends, or family is about as evil as it gets.
Tau invites trouble, however, and has a hard time keeping his mouth shut. He is young, foolish, and willful, and thinks he’s invincible. He can be forgetful and careless when it comes to details and tends to ignore anything not in his immediate environment. He has some maturing to do.
Prominent Trait : Loyalty. Tau is looking for a cause, a pride, a leader, or a love to lend his undying loyalty.
Fears :Being alone. Tau loves company and though he may boast that he can do anything, the thought of living the life of a loner is cripplingly frightening.
Goals : Tau wants to belong to find a home and a pride he loves and is loyal to.
Character Development : Tau has some growing up to do. He thinks he’s invincible and can be a little careless, though not maliciously, to the feelings of others. He will not know what he has done to cause offense, even as he will be keenly aware that someone is offended.
Description : Tau is a warm light brown with a rich coffee colored mane. His outer ears have dark tufty fur, as do his elbows. He is the slender, tall stage of adulthood, not yet quite filled in. Tau has green eyes.
Markings : Tau has a dark brown dorsal stripe.
Role-Play Sample:
A wave of regret passed over the young lion’s body again as he picture Sita’s face. It didn’t matter. He had always been the odd one out. Too young to fit in with the adults and too old to make friends with the king’s new cubs. He kept walking away from all that. The further he got, the better he felt. He wouldn’t have to look back, he wouldn’t need to constantly look over his shoulder or questions the motives of the pride’s sibling rulers. All that was behind him, literally, and he just kept walking.
How far away would be far enough? He didn’t know, but he did understand that he wasn’t yet there. He kept walking. He walked until dark, chased a few buzzards off a kill and ate. It didn’t fill his belly, but it was good enough to get him through the night.
Sleeping at the base of a tree, Tau waited until morning so he could keep walking. Six days went by like this and he begin to lose weight. His mane was no longer shiny and he felt his strength ebbing a little. Still, he kept walking.
Over a steep hill, he walked. The horizon gave way to something unusual and he narrowed his green eyes curiously. Tilting his head as the giant natural formation came into view, his confusion turned to awe. A huge rock jutting toward the sky held into place by another pillar of stone finally came fully into view.
“Wow.” Tau said, as the first words he had spoken in over six days. He continued on, toward the rock, looking forward to passing it on his travels or maybe even exploring it before moving on. His head jerked upward and he stopped dead in his tracks. On the wind, distinct and filled with promise, was the scent of lions.
