Tojo didn't know what to say to Simba. He tried to smile, tried to act like the friend he once had been to the prince, but failed miserably. Forunatly, Simba walked away to have more "alone" time. Tojo's ears fell back and he turned slowly, tail dragging in the dirt. "What have I done?" he muremered to himself. "And what am feeling? Do I feel quilty, like I should after planning to have my friend attacked by hyenas, maybe even killed? Or...is this just dissapointment from not seeing him done away with? What have I become?" He paced alone in the jungle. What would he tell Nala? What if she'd seen? He was an idiot. But was he an idiot for trying to do what he had done, or for not succeeding? He was so confused! Despondant, he crashed to the ground, curling up, closing his eyes. What was happening to him? For a second, a thought flashed through his mind. Could this have been how Scar felt before he became....Scar? "Get out of my head!" he suddenly leaped up and yelled at the tree canopy. A flock of startled birds took off at the sound of his voice. "Why can't you leave me alone? You've ruined everything!" But was he talking to Scar, the king of the Pridelands? Or Simba, the prince he didn't want?

Sarabi took another bug from under the log and ate it, her mind reeling. Was this a glimpse into her future? If Simba wouldn't step up as king...well Scar would never let her back to the Pridelands. Besides, how could she leave Simba? The thoughts made her sad. She looked up, with the intention of looking at her son. Her stomach hurt as she looked around and realized he was gone. "Simba?" she called, standing and beginning to feel frantic. What if their questions had scared him into running? What if someone had come, someone from the pridelands perhaps, and had taken him? "Did you see Simba leave?" she asked, approaching Nala.
Sarabi tried to keep herself calm. Her rational brain told her that Simba had probably just wandered off. What reason would someone have to take him in the middle of a clearing? Right..he just wandered off... Besides, he was practically an adult now; she didn't have to watch his every move. Still...not knowing where he was...it brought back the nightmares of Simba's disappearance, and the false news that he had died. And as much as she tried to rationalize herself, Sarabi still just wanted to know where he was. "I need to go find him..." she said, turning and heading into the jungle. She noted as she left that Tojo had not returned.
She immediately started sniffing the ground and the vines in an attempt to track his scent. Once she caught it, she headed in the direction she was sure he was.

Tojo stared for a moment at the trees were the birds had flown away, then slowly he began to walk back towards where he had left Sarabi, Nala, and Kayani. He didn' t know how he'd ever be able to explain his actions. Maybe he never would. Tojo tried to press the thoughts from his mind, instead simply walked back through the foliage to where the upturned log still sheltered the dinner for that bug-eating maned..creature who called himself a lion. Lion indeed. The first thing he saw was Sarabi sniffing through the undergrowth, searching for someone. Tojo paused. "Are you looking for someone, Sarabi?" he asked, though he could pretty much guess she was searching for her son.

Sarabi looked up, hearing Tojo's voice. "Actually, I was looking for you and Simba." she told him. She walked over to him, her tail flicking curiously. "You both wandered off; I was worried....have you seen Simba?" She was glad Tojo was alright, but she was still worried about her son. How could he wander off like that, after she finally found him? Years spent thinking he was dead...and now he was wandering the jungle? Sarabi kept her expression calm, and tried to make her emotions do the same.

Tojo felt awkward under the gaze of the former Queen, like a cub lying that he hadn't just eaten that last bit of antelope that was being saved for someone else.... Of course Tojo had seen Simba, and knew where he was. But....what would Sarabi think of she knew he had tried to kill her son? He didn't even want to think about it. Besides, what was one little white lie? After all, it didn't hurt anyone. He was actually more protecting her from the truth. And what was wrong with that? "No, I don't no where he is," he lied. "I was out hunting. I didn't see Simba at all."

Sarabi's face fell at Tojo's answer. "Oh," she sighed. She glanced around and then looked back at her young friend. "Do you think you could help me look for him?" She could hear the sadness in her own voice and tried to cover it up. The former queen was not known for her weakness but for her strength and resilience. But these past few months, and especially this day, had taken it out of her. She wasn't sure how much more she could take of this madness and instability.
The lioness looked at Tojo and saw her son in his eyes. They were nothing alike, but Sarabi had started to feel as if she'd replaced Simba with Tojo. They had been such good friends, and Tojo was so strong and mature for his age. He'd always been that way. For a brief moment, she wondered why Simba was so immature, why he hadn't grown up to be like Tojo. Appalled at her own thoughts she looked away from Tojo and reminded herself that Tojo had gone through the same things the rest of the pride had. Simba had grown up in a giant playground. They were totally different. She cared about Tojo, but Simba was her son.

When Sarabi asked him to help her find her son, Tojo immediatly felt torn. Help her? Find Simba? He didn't know... What if Simba had seen him direct the hyenas after him? What if the hyenas had said something? What if the hyenas had circled back and killed Simba? What would he do if only the body of the former king remained? He'd be left with all of this on his conscience. And how would he deal with that? But Sarabi had become like a mother to him. After Tojo's own mother had abandoned him, Sarabi had seemed to become a surrogate. She'd always been there for him. In fact, she had ben the one he'd come to that horrible night he'd watched his mother walk away into the night, leaving him alone. He couldn't hurt her. He couldn't tell her he'd tried to kill her son. He had to keep her safe. He had to keep lying. "Sure, I'll help," he finally said. "He...probably went this way." He lead her in the direction he'd seen Simba earlier. If he was dead, he'd just act surprised and sorrowful, like he had nothing to do with it. After all, he couldn't hurt Sarabi.
((ooc: I think we need someone to play Nala for now. Maybe Kovu can?))
