There is no place for cub in a devastated prideland infested by the hyenas, these vile creatures. Neither for anybody in the reign of Scar. But thing was like that, and not about to change yet. Nothing that can overrun the mind of Mheetu. He was still too innocent to realise what the other was suffering and what everything was about. The only thing that really matter was the little blue bird near the priderock that capture is attention, mostly hypnotise the little cub he was… And maybe Scar, too. He nearly crosses his road, this morning. Mheetu could not tell why, but this big lion frightened him so deeply that he couldn’t talk in front of him… and that makes the king just more impatient with him… At least, the king was ignoring him for now.
Yet the bird came his way. « Oh, little bird! » Mheetu was watching every little move the he was doing. He had a big smile like this was the funniest game in the world… and at the time probably thought it was. The bird fled away. « But… Wait! » Maybe you have to be a cub to understand that, but chasing bird was actually one of the biggest adventure in the savannah… and the only one he was allowed to do. Well, supposed to. He didn’t know why, but he wasn’t allowed to do so many things this time.
A big paw crossed his road forcing Mheetu to stop roughly. Without paying attention to it, Mheetu looked forward, searching for the blue bird. A head pop up in his way, then a voice called him. « Where do you think you were going like this, Mheetu? » Not again! He wasn’t doing anything bad. Innocent, he answered: « Just walking. » That was right, but the lioness repeated after him, not quite convinced. With a fainted sorry face, Mheetu replied: « I saw a bird and I.. » Mheetu had slipped under the lioness. « Where is he? » He then felt someone lift him, bringing him back and put him down. « Don’t leave the priderock. » He wasn’t even thinking about it, but maybe his running course lead him further that it thought. The lioness left. Again, Mheetu stood alone. He lay down and watched the blue sky. What else could he do if nobody was paying attention to him? It was starting to bother him when the shadow of someone came over him. A good distraction ?

Kayani was panting by the time she got to Priderock. She was half-covered in mud, and she wasn't sure where that nice young male she'd met earlier had gone. But what did it matter? She needed to help her friends.
The thing was, Kayani wasn't exactly sure what she was going to do once she got to Priderock. She had some fantastical idea that she was going to fight against Scar and help save Tojo and Nala and Simba, but in her heart, she knew there was no way he could do that. After all, she was just a young lioness, only a year old, and she'd never fought anything before. She really didn't know the first thing about real combat.
But she did know that her friends were up there, and she was going to do whatever it took to help them.
She ran on, determindly towards the huge rock mound. But she wasn't looking, and almost stepped on a small cub.
"What the heck?" she muttered, looking down at him. He was very young, and she didn't think she had ever seen him before. She raised an eyebrow.
"What are you doing out here by yourself?" she asked him. "And who are you?"

Being alone was no fun. But since everybody seemed to had something to do – better than babysitting him all the time – and since he cannot followed big bird, neither could he went further, then the list of his activity dropped to one little thing: check out the sky. That was attractive the first five minutes, but lost interest after ten. So when this shadow came out of nowhere over him, and when a voice began to talk to him, he first seemed surprise. And when Mheetu saw the all mud-covered-creature, he literally jumped on his paw and moved two foots backward… before realizing it was a young lioness. What the heck, that is exactly what could had came to his head too.
"What are you doing out here by yourself?", she said. Well, he thought it was all clear: just laying. Why did everyone has to ask him this question? At first, he stayed quiet. Will he had trouble if he talks to strange and unknown lioness covered with mud? Maybe. "And who are you?" He could had return the question so easily. After a moment of fear, Mheetu showed an innocent and so lovable smile in his face. He stepped forward. « I’m Mheetu ! » Though, he seemed very proud to say that. He didn’t add that he was the son of Sarafina, thinking that this was an unnecessary information: every lion already knew that. « You played in the mud? » That was the only thing that pops in his mind: of course, what else could someone did with mud? « Mom doesn't like when I'm all dirty. » He then said, with a face you can hardly resist at :« ...Can I play too? »

Kayani looked down at this little cub, and for a moment, was swept back to a time when she played with a young, dark furred male, with green eyes and the same bright, playful nature that this cub had. Sadness flashed in her eyes, as she saw the small cub before her transform into her friend of so long ago. How she missed her cubhood playmate, Shujaa. How she missed his smile, his laugh, his unending quest for fun.
And how she still felt the pang of guilt when she thought of his death.
She shook her head, forcing the flames of memory from her mind, and focused again on this little one. He had asked her a question.
You played in the mud?
She blinked, then looked over her shoulder, back at herself. Her light tawny hide was colored dark from the sticky mud that caked the Pridelands. Then he was asking if he could play, too.
"I'm not playing," she told him. "I'm trying to find my friends. I have come a long way in search for them. Have you seen any new lions you didn't recognize, besides me?"

She told him that she wasn’t playing. Yeah well, with Mheetu’s luck the opposite would have been surprising. But, hey, if she was not playing by now, it didn’t mean she will not play later. He was excited just to thought about playing. Maybe she would want to play with him? "…Have you seen any new lions you didn't recognize, besides me?" As she was talking, Mheetu as came forward. He put his paw on the lioness' fur and grabbed some mud on it. « Me ? » Mheetu looked a little bit confuse: she was asking him if he had seen any lion? Happy of his new importance, Mheetu smiled and took kind of a serious face. He also put his paw now covered with mud on his face, like he already saw someone do. A few seconds passed, and then he exclaimed: « No! Why are you searching for them? » Hey, maybe to play! Okay, this playing thing began to be an obsession. But what else could he did, if not playing? "Because they are my friends," Kayani answered him, gently. " And they may be in trouble."
She couldn't let this cub know what she was doing. What if he tried to get into the middle of it? What if he got hurt, or worse...
No. She couldn't be responsible for another cub's death.
"Where is your mother, little one?" she asked him, searching the rocks. A lioness must be somewhere near who claimed this cub as her own. She couldn't let him be wandering around out here, all alone, especially with what was so close to happening.
Thunder rolled in the distance, and she glanced over her shoulder to see the sky darkening dangerously. The storm was coming again.
And then there was the sound of a fight. Kayani's eyes were wide as she looked up Priderock to see two lionesses further up. One she knew was Nala, the other, with a shock, she realized was her old cub-sitter, Ila. And there were hyenas, too.
"Stay here!" she told the small cub, as she dashed away up the side of the Priderock.
((ooc: Kayani is going to make her appearence in The Storm)

"Because they are my friends," Oh, well, that was a pretty good answer. He wished he had some friend to search for, too. "And they may be in trouble." He exclaimed: « What sort of trouble? » Trouble, he knew that. To her mother, it was like he had some predestination to put himself into trouble… But that wasn’t really his fault. He wasn’t doing anything bad. Just circumstances.
She then asked him where his mother was. That was a good question! But Mheetu had no real answer to give. He guessed: « At the rock. » Occupied, like she often was. The small cub wasn’t worried at all. Why would it be anyway? He wasn’t so far from the priderock.
Mheetu looked up, a bit frightened when he heard the sound of thunder in the air. Where was his perfect blue sky? "Stay here!" « But… » That was the only thing he could say before she left him. « …and you? » Alone, again. He watched her, as she dashed her way up to the priderock. He wasn’t sure anymore if he wanted to stay here. To do what? And this cloud, and the thunder… « Mom will be looking at me. » he said to himself. Then he thought: I should go home now. And yet more urgent as the storm scared him: I really should go! Staying there like the lioness asked him wasn’t a good idea, after all. But he didn’t know why she told him to stay. And that is probably part of why he didn't listen to her...
(OOC: Mheetu probably will too)
