Name : Tama
Age : Adult
Gender : Female
Species : African lion
Already a Pridelander? Yes
Rank : None
History : Tama was born during a prosperous time, when many cubs were produced in the Pridelands, during the great King Mufasa's reign. Her mother was a hunter, her father unknown. Her best friend was Nala, who she is close to still. The two girl cubs would occasionally ditch Simba to go have their own random adventures, only to be followed by the mischievous prince. Tama saw young Simba as being silly and immature. But when tragedy struck, Tama was heartbroken by the loss of Mufasa and Simba.
The Pridelander cubs were forced to grow up quickly. For Scar, they were a reminder of better times, and he treated them all terribly. When Tama had once been sweet and painful, she became detached, wary, and secretive. Only her friendship with Nala and the others kept the lioness sane, and once she reached adulthood, she became one of the strongest hunters in the Pridelands. When Nala, Tojo, and Sarabi went searching for help, Tama remained in the Pridelands, her bitterness growing daily. She will be one of the pride members to question Simba's place as king.
Personality : Tama thinks highly of herself and her abilities. She isn't a snob, but she is confident. One of the most capable hunters in the Pridelands, Tama has gone through great effort to sustain the lifestyle she remembers from her childhood, hunting for hours on end. She has also strived to stay away from Scar, unwilling to give him a litter of unwanted cubs. She is mature and cynical. Once, she dreamed of a normal life, with a mate and a family, but now she doubts it is possible. She struggles to get close to others.
Prominent Trait : Stubborn. Tama has high standards for herself and her friends, and can be difficult to get along with if someone sees things differently. Growing up under the reign of Scar, she is also mistrustful of others, particularly those she doesn't know well.
Fears : Scar; The loss of her friends; Exile.
Goals : At this time, Tama has no real aspirations, other than to get rid of Scar. It the situation in the Pridelands was less desperate, she would strive to serve the royal family and have cubs.
Character Development : Tama has never been Simba's biggest fan. She is very doubtful that the absentee prince has the stuff it takes to make a true king, and would be more willing to follow Tojo, or any of her other old friends. She may not be able to cope with Simba's reign, and may seek an alternate lifestyle, rather than remaining in the Pridelands.
Description : While the typical Pridelander lioness is cream colored, Tama is different. Her fur is a soft orange hue, with under markings being several shades lighter. She has a shock of bangs over her forehead, unlike any of the other Pridelander lionesses. Tama has honey colored eyes, which are both intelligent and watchful. She is about average sized for a lioness, though lingering on the thin side due to lack of proper nutrition in the Pridelands. Regardless, she is athletic and strong, and capable of defending herself in a fight or on a hunt. The tuft of her tail is a soft chocolate color.
Markings : While not a marking, Tama's most distinguishing feature is the tuft of bangs over her brow.
Role-Play Sample: Another day had come and gone, the African sun was dipping low on the western horizon as the sky was illuminated by rich shades of indigo, violet, and pink. A hunt had been scheduled for the evening, but morale was as low as ever in the Pridelands, and most of the lionesses had given up trying to catch prey altogether. Tama was determined, as always, to succeed, and she waited at the designated meeting spot beneath an acacia tree for the others to show up. As minutes ticked by however, she began to suspect the others had forgotten, or they simply couldn't be bothered to show up. The thought brought a deep sigh, and her amber eyes flickered around, searching in vain for another leonine form on the horizon.
If Tama was a more fanciful creature, she would pretend that life was different. She would imagine the herds still roaming, as they had when she was young, and rivers that were not dried up. But Tama was unable to escape reality, and the dying lands that she called home looked ugly and unwelcoming, even at the dusky hour that should make any scene a beautiful one. As she sat, her tail wavered idly behind her. She was anxious for action, for something to happen, but the only sound that met her perked ears was the cackles and howls of hyenas. The lioness loathed the canine brutes, but she had grown accustomed to their presence over the years.
The cycles of life had been disrupted in the Pridelands. The land, the animals, everything that existed there was now suffering the consequences of the imbalances Scar had created during his years as monarch. A failed hunt was not an option, and now Tama suspected she would be hunting solo today. Perhaps the Great Spirit would be merciful that evening, and she would find something small, or weak. Tama stood wearily to make her way towards the watering hole, hopes low but stilll unwilling to give up.
