History : Since she was young, Shenzi’s always been close to the lonely prince Scar. As soon as they met, they realized that they had one thing in common-- a deep, rooted hate in Mufasa. For Scar, it was the fact that he'd never become a king so long as he was alive. For Shenzi, it was the fact that Mufasa banished all hyenas one day just by asking his father, Ahadi, the king at the time. The crown prince always had a dislike for the hyenas, mostly because his younger brother seemed to be so close to them.

This hate pushed the hyena and lion closer and closer together, leading to whispered theories between giggles and joking death threats. As time went on, though, things became more and more serious. Once Shenzi and her friends became adults, Scar began to realize that the clan could be a serious asset to him. Shenzi, who had started to rise as a leader among her kind, also realized this. Naturally, when Scar proposed to her the idea of taking out Mufasa, she was eager to oblige. She wanted him gone just as much as Scar, if not more so.

At first, Shenzi didn't mind using Simba as bait for Mufasa. In fact, she thought it served the king right if his son died the same day as him. It wasn't until she saw Scar confront Simba right after his father's death that her mind changed slightly. THe little cub, annoying as he may be, was also Scar's nephew. She softened up a bit at that point, and was content with letting Banzai and Ed do the dirty work. She didn't try to hard to follow him into the thorns, especially after seeing Banzai's reaction. She honestly believed, for at least a moment, that Simba would surely die out there in the desert. It wasn't until later that she realized the prince may, in fact, be alive. She decided to keep this a secret, just between her, Banzai, and Ed.

If Scar ever found out...well...it could be bad. Very bad. After Scar took over the Pridelands, she had started to like her new power. She loved terrorizing the lionesses and gorging on food for once in her life. And, well, if he found out, she might loose her position as well as her long-standing friendship with the King.

As of now, she runs a tight ship. She makes sure to keep her hyenas in line, at least when it matters (aka...when she cares.)

Personality : Shenzi is, for the most part, a bossy, confident and scheming hyena. She's not afraid to push her weight around, especially after she becomes matriarch upon Scar's reign. She's partial to drama, especially,and tries to make things as showy and dramatic as possible sometimes. When her bossiness fails her, Shenzi reverts to a sassy sort of attitude,and throws in puns and side jokes whenever possible.

She tries to keep a light personality as often as possible, laughing to mask some of the extreme guilt she feels inside. Her keeping this huge secret from the king definitely takes its toll on her. At times, she's been known to be especially irritable and bite on whoever's unfortunate enough to be nearby. Her laugh can hide anything, though, and is primarily the reason Scar hasn't picked up on her occasional shadyness.

Prominent Trait : Her confidence, definitely. She's not afraid of anyone, really. The ones that used to scare her are now dead, and she's free to boss around everyone else without a second thought.

Fears : Being out of power, being a nobody. Loosing her loyal trio. Most of all--Scar's anger. She'd hate to make him mad and break apart their friendship.

Goals : Stay in power. Help to rule the pridelands, and put lions in their place.

Character Development : Shenzi wants to eventually come clean with Scar, but she isn't so sure just how that will work. As time goes on, though, and Scar goes more and more psycho, she'll start to turn against him, and at the crucial moment, turn all of the hyenas against the faux king.

Description : A gray coat, dark brown spots and a tan underbelly. Her face is box-ish, and her mane and paws are jet-black. Her eyelids have a distinct shape, almost like she's applied eyeshadow to them. Her black 'mane' sticks out from her curved back, and three clumps of hair act as distinctive bangs on her face.
