Despite of that he was Scar's son, the whole Pridelands mourned the loss of the young Prince. His innocence had won him a spot in the heart of every lioness, and even some hyenas had grown to care.
Scar, once he had learned of the terrible news, had gone insane. Throughout the night, he had done nothing but pacing left to right, stopping only to roar his pain. He would talk to no one, and he had almost attacked Shenzi when she tried to tell him how sorry she was about his loss.
Left. Right. Left. Right. His shadow projected tall on a great rock behind him. The false King could not help but think it was Mufasa's. Suddenly, he stopped dry, staring at it with horror. Mufasa! As of late, he had been seeing his brother everywhere. He could not stand the torment, the guilt.
Still in this trance, Scar ran away, hastily leaping from rock to rock, descending from priderock and disappearing in the distance. The hyenas and the lionesses didn't know what to think, and none dared to follow him.
Alone he was in the endless sea of grass. He turned about frantically and saw no Mufasa was following him. Taking a deep breath, he could do nothing but resume the pacing. There was nothing else he could do.
The wind was howling in the background, lightning cracked. The stars were hiding behind a thick sheet of dark clouds.
The stars...
"How could you do this to me?!" The King roared at the heavens.
"Everything I do comes down destroyed! You never gave me a chance! You never loved me!" Tears were rolling down his cheeks, tears of pain, confusion, anger.
"Get your paws off my life already!" He shouted to Ahadi.

Uru looked down from the clouds, the stars surrounding her. The brown lioness with the diamond on her forehead walked forward, and far below her, she could see Pride Rock. The Pridelands had once been her home. Now she barely recognized them. Sadness filled her heart. Not only from seeing the drought killing her home, but hearing the cries of her youngest son. Her heart filled with greif, and she knew what she had to do. They were not allowed to leave the skies often, but tonight, she had to. She had to do this. She glanced around, and silently took a breath, allowing herself to become stardust. Then, she floated down from the clouds to stand on Priderock, behind Scar. She could not feel the rock under her paws. But she could see her son, and that was what mattered. "Taka," she said, her voice as gentle as the wind. "My son."

"Taka..."
Upon hearing this voice, the King froze. Still holding his breath, he turned around to see the unmistakable shape of his mother, standing atop Pride Rock like a Queen of indescribable splendor.
"Mother!" Scar called, running back towards the rock.
"How...?" He stopped right before it, the great monument looming over him. He could not believe his eyes.

Uru's star-filled eyes were sad, and she sighed. 'We have a new spirit with us tonight, in the stars," she said sadly. "I know who he is. He is your son." Her eyes were soleful as she spoke to him. She knew that Ahadi had been resentful of Taka since he had begun to lean more towards the hyenas, but she still saw him as her son. And he would always be her son, no matter what his past was like. And right now, he needed her. "Taka," she said. "I am sorry."

"Mother... Shujaa..." His words made no sense, but that did not matter. He was relieved to know that at least Shujaa still existed somewhere.
"...Why?" He cried, his voice only a whisper.
"Why did he have to go?" He asked weakly, his green eyes reflecting the wounds of his soul.
The memory of Ahadi haunted his mind. He was convinced of that he did that as some revenge for the death of Mufasa. His pain transformed into anger. It was all Ahadi's and Mufasa's fault.
"Why does HE continue to torment me?!" He roared, looking up at Uru for an answer, demanding one.

"Sometimes lives have to be taken for the greater good, Taka," Uru tried to explain. "Life is not all about the mountains. Sometimes, it's the valleys that define our character the most. Life is filled with pain. You, of all, should know that." She reached a paw up to touch his face were the scar was. "But the pain makes the happiness brighter, the joy sweeter. I cannot tell you why Shujaa was taken. But I can tell you that Ahadi had nothing to do with it. As far as he's concerned, you don't even exist." She sighed, the news weighing heavily on her heart. "Taka, the Great Kings have turned their backs on you. The death of your son was not their doing, but they can and will influence your future."

Scar shook his head at the ghost's words, and looked away when she touched him. His eyes narrowed with distrust when she told him that Ahadi was not to blame for this. In his heart he knew she spoke the truth, but he did not want to believe it.
Once more, he looked up at her; but his ears were pinned, his gaze hardened.
"Fine. I don't need them." He growled. He felt as if she suddenly wasn't in his side anymore.

"Taka," Uru looked longingly at her son. "Taka, there's still a chance. Right your wrongs. Show the Great Kings that you can be different. That scar, it doesn't have to define you. You can be what you want. You don't have to be defined. Choose your own destiny, or the Great Kings will choose it for you. Please, Taka. There's still time." She knew what would happen if he refused. And she did not want to see her son fall under the wrath of the Great Kings.

"What do you mean by that?!" Scar backed off, horrified. He certainly didn't like the tone she was using... as if he were to be wiped off the face of earth by something terrible and unstoppable. Something that was right at hand.
"There was never time -- I never had a choice! You never gave me an opportunity!" He shouted, looking confused and afraid, yet trying to hide behind a mask of aggression.
He didn't understand. Of course Mufasa and others like him could be just and have all the virtues of the rainbow, but if he hadn't stepped up to take control of his own life, he would have never gotten anywhere. Was he supposed to regret his only victory in life?

"Taka..."Uru started, but her words trailed off. She could not force him to understand. And she was forbidden to share anything about the future. Taka had chosen his own way in life. She could do nothing about that. "Taka," she shook her head. "I'm sorry. I don't mean to force you into anything. Only you can choose your path. No one can do it for you. Not even me."

Scar seemed to hesitate. This was unfair. Even through all, there were those Past Kings still above him, still judging him, still making him miserable! It was no different than while Mufasa was still around... This meant even his one victory had been a hollow one. Either that, or a work in progress.
"Will I ever see Shujaa again?" He asked impatiently, trying to localize his star in the skies.
But the heavens were clouded. Only Mufasa's star seemed to pierce through the blackness. Scar glared at it with courage he never dared show while his brother lived. Surely, the Kings would judge him unworthy of the starry sky and banish him to a place of darkness where Shujaa wouldn't be. He had always been the underdog, the runt, he who nobody believed in. As if, unlike a normal lion, he never had a destiny or a purpose. Even his mother seemed to judge hm. Right your wrongs. He felt as if she signaled him whole and then said "right your wrongs." He felt not like a lion, but like a mistake.
Yet he would not give in and wait for death. Could a lion battle the stars? Challenge destiny to a duel?

Uru shook her head sadly. "Shujaa is gone," she told him. "And where he has gone you cannot follow. But you can see his star." She looked up at the sky and saw a tiny star glittering brightly near Mufasa's. It barely shone through the clouds, which moved slightly as if to let her see it better. "He is safe with us, now. And I must return to the stars myself." She sighed and turned from him. "Taka, there is still time," she said. "But it's your choice. I may not return again. Goodbye, my son." She took a breath and allwoed herself to disolve into starlight. The wind gathered around her and whisked her back up into the clouds, away from where her son was ruining his life.
