They both went under, but over the laughter and the splashes of water in their faces it was more enjoyable if anything. However her lungs wanted air more than anything as she went back up to the surface and broke out of the water. Gasping a bit, she recovered looking back to see where Tojo still was underneath. Most of her body except from neck up was still wet, though she didn't mind it at all.

The water was actually pretty deep here, so Tojo decided to play a nice little prank on Nala. Instead of coming straight up, he stayed down and swum around her until he was behind her. The bottom of the pond came up, and he crouched under the water, feet planted on the sandy floor. Then he launched himself at her, grabbing her tail in his mouth like a cub and tugged, then released and ran around her laughing. Finally he stopped and waited for her to come over to him. He was panting and luaghing and smiling all at the same time. He was dripping wet, but felt a million times better than he had in a long time. He stood at the bank of the wateringhole and smiled down at her, waiting.

"Was that a fish that bit me?" Nala asked with a slight tease as she looked over to where she saw Tojo come to the surface. It seemed as if all her troubles had disappeared in the night. Not a single day had been like this before as she came out over to the water, wondering if she should play along. But since Tojo had started it she figured she might as well finish with another playful way. She playfuly held onto his tail just like he had done earlier. "Or was it a handsome lion of the pridelands?" She asked.

Tojo laughed and spun around, as if trying to shake her free. FInally, he stopped and turned so his blue eyes were gazing straight into her own green ones. "I don't know about handsome," he said playfully, his nose touching her's. "But I do know that 'beautiful' has already been taken. And I'm looking at its taker."

Nala chuckled a bit as her nose touched Tojo's in return, she almost forgot that she still had his tail in her mouth. She let go of it gently as she looked back at him. "Well it has to be something interesting." She said and paused realising that the two were looking face to face and both eyes were looking directly at the other. As if they could see what each other was thinking about. Nala thought to herself, that this was a night that she hadn't had in a long time, and it was worth remembering.

Tojo smiled softly at Nala, then nuzzled her gently. He looked up at the stars twinkling high above him. "Look at the stars," he whispered in awe. "I'm not sure when the last time it was that I really looked at them." He sat beside her and smiled at her again. "And funny thing is," he said. "They're not anywhere close to how beautiful you are."

"Are you sure of that?" Nala asked with a bit of sarcasim in her voice, as she turned her head to look back up at them. "Stars are always beautiful." She added as she gazed up at them with awe. Her pelt was still dripping wet from when they were playing in the water just moments ago, but it felt good, she didn't complain about it a single bit since she enjoyed it.

"Oh, I'm sure," Tojo said with a smile. He sighed happily and rubbed his chin on the top of her head. "You know," he said. "I haven't had this much fun in a long time. You don't think we could do it again, maybe? Maybe tommorrow night?" He looked hopefully down at her, blue eyes glittering.

"Of course, it sounds like a good idea." Nala said looking up at Tojo with a soft smile. At least she'd have something to look forward to tomorrow, better than wondering through the gorge looking for answers that weren't really there, perhaps. And best if she didn't run into another hyena, though Bakari didn't seem so bad... "So same time, same place?"

Tojo nodded. "I should probably go," he said, sighing. He glanced at the sky, confirming the time. The moon was rising in the blackness. Scar liked him to patrol the borders, and Tojo knew the king would be waiting for him to come and report in that he was going to leave on his rounds. He hated to cut the date off, but he knew that he had to. Besides, tonight was a good start. Maybe tommorrow night would be even better. "Can I....could I walk you home?" he asked her. "You know...just to make sure no one bothers you."

Nala shrugged as she looked back at Tojo, "I don't mind the company at all, I know my way around here so I come often alone without any trouble." She said softly to Tojo as they began to leave. Her coat was starting to dry but she did enjoy the damp feeling in the hot summer nights.

Tojo stood and shook the remaining water from his coat, making sure not to get any on Nala. Smiling, he walked beside her towards the lioness's den in the distance. Maybe later he wold bring them more food. "Look," he said. "It was really nice being with you tonight. I...." he trailed off, loosing his nerve. He stopped in front of the opening to the cave. "I...really like being with you." He looked sheepishly at her, his cheeks feeling hot.

"I did too, Tojo, it was really fun." Nala said rubbing his chest softly with the top of her head. "It made me think of the days back when we were cubs and care free all the time." She said, perhaps the soft rub was a way of her thanking him? She wasn't entirely sure, but she supposed she should say it verbally.

When Nala rubbed up against him, Tojo felt like he was floating on air. He rubbed his chin against the top of her head, smiling. Finally, he pulled away and smiled. "Goodnight, Nala," he said gently, beginning to turn to walk off. "I'll see you tommorrow." With those words he turned and began to walk away, feeling like he was walking in air.

Ooc: Should we do a time skip making it tomorrow?
Bic: "Good night Tojo." Nala said watching him before the male disappeared. She came over to the sheltered rocks that had the bit of shade, so her paws wouldn't be burning hot in the morning. It wouldn't be comfortable for her, though it wasn't long before she was asleep in the rock like shelter. The events of the current and ending day were still happily dancing in her head.
