The battle between uncle and nephew was surprisingly short-lived as another lion joined the violent fray. It seemed Tojo was not willing to let go of the past, either, and rather than joining Simba, he turned on him. The very same lion that had once cared for a pawful of orphaned cubs was now seething with hatred for his former friend. After everything he had seen, all the heartache he had experienced that he had never shared, now Tojo claimed that he had worked so hard... For what? A throne that would never be rightfully his? But the son of Mufasa had no time to respond, for the blue eyed lion was at his mane, pulling hard.
The instinct to hurt surfaced instantly within Simba, and his hind legs shoved out from under him to claw at Tojo's belly, much the way a cat 'attacks' a toy mouse: every razor sharp talon splayed and thrashed violently in the direction of his attacker, no longer worried for the safety of anyone but himself.
The sound of a feminine yoar echoed through the den, and for a brief second, the frantic lion looked away from Tojo. Simba was panting hard, eyes wide in utter disbelief, and the lion had a wild look about him that fit the years he had spent as a rogue in the jungle. Hyenas were beginning to surround the two fighting lions, and a vicious snarl thundered in Simba's throat. "This is the throne.. of my father.. of Ahadi and Mohatu," he said between heavy gulps of air. "I will take what is mine."
