"Scar let the hyenas take over the pridelands!"
After Mufasa's death, nothing is well in the Pridelands... Scar formed an alliance with the ravenous hyenas, and their endless hunts have forced many herds to remove the Pridelands from their migration routes. Even a great drought has come upon the lands, as if the lands themselves rebelled against the new King.
Shadowlands is a free-for-all, active Lion King role play that takes place during the first movie, only a few years after Scar's take over. There are many canon positions open, and plenty of opportunities for original ones as well!

After Simba returned from the jungle and defeated Scar, the evil lion was exiled to the barren Outlands where he bides his time plotting a comeback.
Apparently, mother nature decided to catch up with all those rainy days she missed! Shortly after Shujaa's death, it has been raining heavily and almost constantly.

Nuka hadn't approached and that was good. He had such a low intelligence that Scar almost refused to recognize him as his son!
Scar looked at Shuuja, his green gaze softening after being taken off Nuka, but didn't respond. His attention as quickly snatched by Tojo and his long list of names.
Scar's tail flicked as he examined each of these names. He had never liked Tojo's idea of organizing another lioness hunting party after the official one was dissolved... but he had never spoken his mind believing the exercise the lionesses would be doing, and keeping their minds busy, would be a good thing. After all, it meant all these tired lionesses coming back from the hunt going straight to sleep, and therefore they would be out of his way and have little time to complain about random things. Very good.
If his pride would've allowed him to, he would have ordered him to take Sarabi with them... this way the old queen would be out of his life, too. She had become so bitter after her derankment that he honestly couldn't stand her. But no, his pride didn't allow him to. He would not grant her the pleasure of doing her favorite activity again... she'd have to stay grounded at home regretting not having kept her mouth shut. With Tojo somewhat taking her place as the lionesses' leader, Scar believed he did no longer need the old queen at all, and he was thinking about chasing her off soon.
So he contented with mentally celebrating her name's absence in the list.
"Certainly." Scar approved, although by the coldness in his voice you could tell he wasn't particularly excited about the new hunting team, nor had he any faith in it. He regarded it as useless, and only gave his permission for it because of the reasons already mentioned.

"Daaaad!" Shujaa pestered placing his small paws onto the side of his father's foreleg, pouting slightly at the fact that he had been ignored. "Can we go up there? Please?" he asked staring up at his father. Shujaa had become very excited at the thought of being somewhere high, higher than he normally was while he was on Pride Rock.

Tojo could hear that Scar cleary wasn't interested. He looked down at the cubs near him, and knew that the king had better things to do anyways. He sighed and bowed once more to the king. "Thank you, King Scar," he said simply, then turned and started to walk away. At leeast he'd have some news to share with the lionesses. And while they were out hunting, they could plan Scar/s demise.

Scar rolled his eyes once Tojo turned to leave. He reacted to the King's disinterest with disappointment... well but what did he expect? Bringing food back home was GIRL's work, not boy's, not King's, not his. And not even that, bringing back food has just recently become hyena work, so lions didn't even have to think about it... yet they kept insisting on going hunting... ah, whatever! Scar only hoped they would remember what he had told them about getting on Shenzi's way... although one hardly had to worry about that, for Shenzi herself would gladly remind them.
Just then Shuuja began pestering, and Scar sighed irritably. Today was one of these days, it seemed... He turned towards his son and said with his typical velveted calmed voice that he recurred to whenever he wanted something:
"Oh, does it has to be right now? Why don't you ask your mother?"

"She's not here." Shujaa pouted while looking at the ground. It wasnt fair. Every time he wanted to spend time with his father it was always, 'go ask your mother' or 'go play with Nuka or something.' He was never around to play anymore.

Tojo paused, remembering something. He looked back over his shoulder. "Oh, and King Scar," he added. "I chose Kula to watch over the kills, to make sure no one steals from them. Good day, Sire." He dipped his head again before once again leaving. He was glad to finally be away from Scar. As he walked away a small tawny shape flashed by and ran into his leg. He looked down to see the striped cub Kayani shaking her head and looking up at him with blue-green eyes. "What are you doing?" Tojo asked her, eyebrow raised playfully. "Lookin' for Shujaa," she answered, rubbing her head with a paw. 'Well, he's over there with Scar, if you want to play with hm." "Thanks!" Kayani said and, as quickly as he'd seen her, she dissapeared. Shaking his head, Tojo continued on.
Kayani rushed through the grassbefore skidding to a halt, hiding behind a few strands so Scar didn't see her. She peeked through and saw Shujaa talking to Scar. She stared at Shujaa, willing her to see him so she wouldn't have to call attention to herself.

Scar heard the name of Tojo's chosen guard, but he did not respond. Kula...? Are you sure? Well, if any food disappeared, it was HIS problem, not Scar's.
Then his attention went towards his son... how would he get out of this one?
"You can play with Nuka until she comes back." The King suggested predictably.

Kayani crouched down in the grass. The "stare at him till he sees you" routine wasn't working. She decided to try something else. She moved closer to him in the grass, still trying not to draw attention to herself. "Pssst, Shujaa," she hissed at him.

Scar's eyes widened at his son's words. By one moment he thought he heard Simba. Scar raised his head and panted a bit at the overwhelming memories that name brought, before he would clench his eyes closed and shake his mane hoping to physically shake these thoughts away.
He quickly regained control over himself and acted as if nothing had happened.
"When you become King," Scar replied, "I'll be dead."
He shot a hard look at Shuuja before placing his head back in the rock.

"Y..you're gonna be..dead?" Shujaa cried out in shock. "B..but I dont want you to be.." he said, his voice breaking slightly as a few tears started to stream down his face.

Nuka turns his eyes to Kayani, watching the cub try to silently get his brothers attention, he rolls his eyes and looks off in the distance.
A dark colored hyena looks over the other hyenas near Scar, a scowl marking his visage as he watches the hyenas, his piercing yellow eyes never leaving them. One thing Bendari hated was when the hyenas decided to slack off in their duties; one thing he takes proudly is getting the job done for the king.

Kayani stared wth disbeleif. Was Shujaa deaf? He was totally oblivious! "Shujaa!" she tried again louder. Her eyes wandered to Scar, and she shivered. She didn't want him to see her. For an instant, she thought maybe Nuka had seen her, but he seemed uninterested. Kayani focused her attention back on trying to get Shujaa to see her.

Shujaa rubbed his eyes and turned his head to an area of which he heard his name called. Peering in the grass he spied Kayani. "What?" he asked quirking a brow.
